![]() ![]() Namely, the constant bell-ringing in the main hub area and empowered riposte. ![]() Those were very well done, though some are a little bit grating. I did not listen to the substituted metal soundtrack, but I felt like that was going to break the tone too much for me. Additionally, the music really felt like it was just not present at all. However, the jump to the latter is sharp because the previous areas are pretty boilerplate fantasy settings and follow the general vibe that the game initially set out compared to the end. I think there are some really interesting visuals that escalate from a simple cavern to a realm where reality and time bend endlessly. However, that is not to say the visual design is not inspired to an extent. It is hard to describe, but I believe it mostly has to do with the lighting at times feeling stock and similar to many UE projects. The reason I say mostly is that there are some visual bugs, limited enemy variety, and some parts that make it really obvious it is a UE game. And for the most part, I think the game successfully creates a mostly visually-pleasing and satisfying Unreal Engine (UE) Soulslike game. After being gifted it by a friend and coming off of the year of Elden Ring, I wanted to give it a fair shot. This is because of the sleek animations, interesting new mechanic, and cool premise had me looking forward to eventually playing it - nearly 3 years later, I am there. I'm out.Ĩ0% PCI have been looking forward to playing this after a long time because I enjoyed the demo on EGS a while back. THAT'S IT! What are you still doing here ? Do with that what you will. If what you want is pain and a weird trip but can't afford DMT, this is for you. I went offline and turned my phone off for the last playthrough due to how stressed i was through it. Feels like a demo and a re-release on the new gen makes no sense. I finished the game under 20 hours (counting the lost saves in acccount). 3 dungeons (Basically Iron Cove, Frozen Eleum Loyce and a maze made of what feels like chiralium and obsidian). The main game has a hub : Kinda like firelink shrine slapped in the middle of darkroot (far more confusing) that will change in shaded woods (the part where you find Vengarl). By the way, if you use the RTX beta, you'll have no control over the settings, due to that, you'll be locked in a worst looking version due to intense filters. Feel free to check my specs on my profile, if it's too much trouble : I have an RTX3060 with 12go vram in there. ![]() With or without that, the game crashes very often (averaged to one crash every 20 minutes) leading me to lose my save multiple times, there are a ton of graphical glitches, one enemy type in particular made me go down to 2-16 FPS no matter the settings. To run the game with RTX, you need to hop in a beta that severely impacts performance (i went from ultra up to 120 fps to an average under 30 fps). The previously mentioned range weapon is useless in combat as it's so slow you might never have a hit unless an enemy is walking towards you like the nameless king. Those two mechanics are your only defense. The parry time is off by a lot (same as most of your attacks, does not apply to enemies though). With your only defense is a dodge (never managed to get it) or a parry. While there's fog you'll encounter ghouls that'll instantly jump on you. Once you return from a dungeon you'll come back to the hub engulfed in mist, give an item to an NPC, find another dungeon. That was not fun because of some awkward enemy placements. You die in one hit, of course, one of the requirements is to finish the game this way. You can now easily find your first shell. At that point, you properly enter the game. After the tutorial, you're thrust in a long tunnel to crawl through. However, you start with a greatsword (second fastest weapon). Mix and match those to find your playstyle. That system along the limited number of weapon (5 melee, 1 range) acts as the class system. One of them being the shell (5 total in the game) mechanic. This game has a lot of good and fresh ideas. 60% PCI'll preface this review by saying that this game is weird.
